G. Joanne Yarde
Hailing from the island of Barbados is G. Joanne Yarde, the 2020-2022 Chapter President for Delta Mu Zeta. Joanne has been a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated for over 29 years and has held positions on the National, Regional, State and local levels of the sorority. Most notable, the National Director of Protocol in the administration of Past International President, Barbara C. Moore. In addition to being the President of the chapter, Joanne’s most recent roles include serving as the New York State Representative to the Regional Elections Committee and the Regional Rep to the American Cancer Society.
Professionally, Joanne has over 35 years of dedicated service with the City of New York and is currently the Controller and Assistant Commissioner at one of the mayoral agencies. She manages a team of over 70 persons, is responsible for processing over $1 billion in payments to vendors and the payroll for the 6,000 employees of the agency.
Joanne attended CUNY – Herbert H. Lehman College in the Bronx, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services Administration and earned her Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from New York University, Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service.
Family is very important to Joanne. She and her elderly mother reside in Brooklyn within proximity to many relatives. She also travels frequently to Barbados to be with her brother and other family members. She is a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Joanne is also the Assistant Treasurer of the Barbados Cancer Association USA (BACA), Inc. where she works to raise funds to build the only hospice in Barbados.
In her spare time, Joanne loves to bake and in December is busy making her signature Black Cake for friends and relatives.
First Vice President
Nicole E. Roberts
Nicole E. Roberts is a Registered Nurse who has been working for the City of New York for over 24 years. She currently works as an Assistant Head Nurse in a family health center located in the Bronx, NY. She received her Associates in Nursing at Hostos Community College and her Bachelors in Psychology at SUNY College at New Paltz.
Nicole has been a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated for 28 years. She was initiated in the spring of 1993 by way of Delta Mu Zeta Chapter serving Manhattan, NY. She has worked on numerous committees and has served on the executive board as financial secretary, and currently, she is the first vice president of the chapter. Not only has she worked on the local level, she also was the NYS budget coordinator and the budget chair for NYS and Atlantic Region conferences.
Nicole is a dedicated worker who is passionate about sisterhood. She cares deeply, loves out loud, and enjoys laughter. Nicole loves to travel, dance, sing and attend concerts. What she loves the most is spending time with her family. She has two beautiful daughters, one currently attending high school and the other completing her master’s degree in social work.
Second Vice President
Shernette Morrison was born and raised in New York, where she attended Pace University and graduated with a degree in Business Administration. She joined Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. through undergraduate chapter Upsilon Eta. Upon graduating, she immediately accepted a position with local government while remaining active in Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
As a Diamond Life Member, whose membership spans over four decades, it has been a pleasure for Shernette to assist in providing valuable service programs to the community. During her tenure at Pace University, she learned that giving back is the most altruistic act in life. Shernette has participated in a myriad of service opportunities, from international endeavors in Ghana to uplifting her local community. She has had the privilege of serving the sorority in several leadership positions, including the 10th New York State Director. Shernette has held elected offices, served on national committees, and is the current National Director of Protocol. She has received numerous awards and citations for her forty-plus years of community service.
In addition to her numerous community service projects, she operates a residential and commercial real estate inspection business. She is a devoted wife, mother of two sons, and grandmother to a grandson.
Third Vice President
Cecilia Eleanore Prichard, MBA, is a native New Yorker, born in Harlem, raised in Brooklyn, and now residing in the Bronx. She currently serves as our Third Vice President.
Cecilia earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business majoring in Management and minoring in Marketing from Long Island University (LIU)-Brooklyn Campus. While at LIU, she was initiated into the “Elite” Epsilon chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. in the Spring of 1991. As an undergraduate, she served as the President of the chapter. From 1992 to 1994, Cecilia served as the National Undergraduate Representative to the Executive Committee under International President Dr. Jylla Moore Foster Tearte.
After two years in the management training program for Kinney Corp, Cecilia worked for ten years at J.P. Morgan Chase in various customer service and supervisory positions ending there as an Assistant Treasurer in 2005. She managed the call center for the Bank One Payroll card until the department moved to Tampa. In 2007, Cecilia began working at Long Island University in Student Financial Services as the Assistant to the Dean. In 2010, she earned her Master of Business Administration degree with distinction from Long Island University-Brooklyn Campus while working as a financial aid counselor. Currently, Cecilia is still working at Long Island University as the Federal Loan Officer and Enrollment Services Counselor.
Cecilia has served as a cantor and choir member of the youth and senior choirs at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church since she was seven years old. There she also served as the chair of the Spring Fling Dinner Dance Committee, Choir Secretary and Assistant Choir Director. She serves on the Board of her Co-operative Building as Secretary. Cecilia also is the Conductress of Joppa Chapter #30, Eureka Grand Chapter, Prince Hall, Order of Eastern Star, State of New York. As a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Cecilia has been elected as Delta Mu Zeta Chapter’s President, First Vice President, Third Vice President and Treasurer. She has chaired the Z-HOPE and Stork’s Nest committees, and has been a member of the Finer Womanhood committee. In addition to her current role as the chapter’s Third Vice President, Cecilia is also currently serving as the NYS Z-HOPE Coordinator.
Grace M. Clarke
Grace M. Clarke, MPA, a native of Brooklyn, New York, previously Corresponding Secretary 2018-2020, now serves as Executive Board Secretary and has been a graduate member of Delta Mu Zeta Chapter since the Spring of 2018. She received her Bachelor of Business degree in Computer Science from Long Island University. After six years as a City of New York employee, working as a Systems Manager in Project Management; specifically, as a David Dinkins Alum, she went to CUNY Bernard Baruch College where she received her Master of Public Administration degree.
In 2004 Grace became a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) and is a member of the Project Management Institute. This professional distinction recognizes her as a project management practitioner qualified to manage projects nationally and globally. Grace is also a Certified Compliance & Regulatory Professional (CCRP). She teaches project management principles and business administration.
Grace currently serves on the KBS Foundation Limited board as Treasurer and is an active member of the Fundraising committee. She shares the honor as a recipient of the 2006-2007 Women of Great Esteem Award for her community service contribution. Grace has been recognized for her work as an advisor for financial literacy in the foster care community. She served as Administrative Vice President for Strategic Planning on the board of Urban Financial Services Coalition from 2005-2007, a national non-profit organization committed to professional development and growth for financial services professionals, as well as financial planning preparation predominantly in under-served communities. She has held executive board roles on the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) and the Global Language Project (GLP). Currently, Grace sits on the advisory boards of the African American Literary Awards and Laughing Black Vampire Productions – an award-winning science fiction independent publishing firm.
Grace has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, including Operations Management, regulatory review, and program management. She is most passionate about helping others and maintains a strong sense of community. Grace lives with her family, commuting between Albany and Brooklyn, NY.
TaShana B. Pace
TaShana B. Pace, M.S. is from Harlem, New York, born & bred. She is currently serving as Corresponding Secretary 2020-2022 for Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Delta Mu Zeta Chapter, and is a very proud member since Spring of 2018.
She is the Founder and CEO of Miss Black American Princess, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)3 etiquette and scholarship program established in 2005 for young ladies 13-17yrs of age.
TaShana’s background includes over 20 years of experience in the entertainment, advertising, and media industry. Community service and event planning are her life’s passions. She is the proud mother of two beautiful young adults, son Bradford & daughter Brandi. She proudly earned her Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees from The College of New Rochelle, New York (Main Campus)
People always ask, how does she balance it all? It’s really simple. When God has blessed you with a loving and caring spirit, His grace allows you to step out on faith and do what you love.
Carlyne Ruban is self-described as a “Brooklyn Woman who is silly like a little girl with soulful big eyes, strong-willed and strong-minded with a very energetic spirit.” She stands firmly on her principles of “always be yourself,” “never lie to oneself no matter what” and…BE TRUE TO YOU!! She’s NOT easily knocked down; she will eventually and always stand if ever.
Carlyne obtained her B.S. degree in Criminal Justice Administration and Planning and a Master’s degree in Public Administration – Inspection and Oversight from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She has been an employee of NYC for approximately 23 years now, and retirement is on the horizon.
As a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated, Delta Mu Zeta Chapter for over four years, Carlyne has held both appointed and elected positions as the Budget Coordinator and Financial Secretary. She is also a member of Eureka Grand Chapter, Prince Hall Order Eastern Star Incorporated, State of New York, where she is an elected officer in her subordinate chapter.
Carlyne enjoys painting, drawing, crayons and adult coloring books, mindless T.V., listening to music, dancing, and most of all, hanging out with friends. She’s a mother of 1 who is currently a second-semester freshman in college.
Mala B. Walker
Mala B. Walker, née Bentley, is a daughter of Brooklyn, NY, the child of southern parents. She attended John Jay College of Criminal Justice and received a BA degree in Criminal Justice in 1978. After graduation, she was immediately employed by New York Life Insurance Company, where she worked until retirement in 2014. Mala is entrepreneurial by nature and has had many businesses over the years. She loves network marketing and building a successful team. After retirement, Mala ran a notary signing agent business and, in June 2018, started a jewelry company, Mala B’s Baubles.
Mala made the best decision in the fall of 199l. She became a Finer Woman on April 20, 1991. She was born and raised in Delta Mu Zeta, the Manhattan, NY Chapter. Mala attended her first state meeting two weeks later and first Atlantic Region Leadership Conference the following October. Mala is the current Treasurer of Delta Mu Zeta Chapter, and a past chapter Treasurer from 1994-1998, the Atlantic Region Treasurer from 1995-1999, and the Treasurer of the NYC Pan Hellenic Council from 1996-1998. She is also a past 1st Vice President from 1998-2000. Over the years, she also served in many appointed positions. Mala became a sorority Life Member in April 1996 and is now a Diamond Life Member.
Tasha García was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated from Northeastern University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Accounting Management and obtained her Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Finance from Rutgers School of Business.
She is a licensed securities agent as well as a Life Insurance Agent and Broker. Tasha has several years of experience in Financial Services and has held executive-level positions in the industry; she is most passionate about helping others achieve financial wellness and create generational wealth.
Maintaining a strong sense of community and a solid professional foundation are very important to Tasha. As part of her social contributions, she is a third generation member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated where she actively serves on the regional, state, and local levels in various elected and appointed positions. She also serves on the boards of several other non-profit organizations in New York and New Jersey.
Shenequa R. Wilson
Shenequa Renee Wilson is a native of The Bronx, New York. She holds dear to her heart her parents, friends, and family and is a devoted mother to one daughter. Shenequa attended high school in Manhattan, where she served as senior yearbook editor and graduated with a B.A. degree in Business Administration from Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. Campus participation included college radio host, newspaper editor, choir member, campus tour guide, and Class of 2004 President, Vice President, and Historian.
Currently Director of Sales for Running Subway Productions, Shenequa has been a corporate sales executive in New York’s tour and travel industry for over 15 years. Prior to Running Subway, she served as Director of Sales for THE RIDE, where she’s been featured in Courier Magazine and accepted NAJ’s award for Top New Attraction. Shenequa has also worked for Ripley’s Believe It or Not!, Harlem Spirituals/New York Visions, NY Skyride in the Empire State Building, and Inside CNN studio tours.
Shenequa joined Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated Delta Mu Zeta Chapter in the Spring of 2007 and has served on various committees, including Fundraising, Youth Auxiliary, and Chapter Retreat. In her spare time, Shenequa enjoys long walks, listening to music, and showcasing beauty and fashion as an Independent Consultant for Paparazzi Accessories.
Mercedes J. Bullock
Mercedes J. Bullock is a seasoned Operations Manager with over 25 years of experience in Luxury Retail. She began her career at Hermes of Paris where she spent six years honing her skills at the flagship store. Her career advanced significantly with a move to Tourneau Time Machine, where she spent 17 years in various key roles leading up to Store Operations Manager for three of their Manhattan stores. For the last six years, she has held the office of Regional Operations Manager. In this capacity, she supports, trains, and audits nine elite stores throughout the Northeast region. Included in her region are best of class stores located in New York, Boston, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Mercedes earned her Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Briarcliffe College. She resides in Harlem, NY, and is a wife, mother of 4 children, and a grandmother.
Mercedes is a graduate of the Soul Saving Station Collegiate Bible Institute (“CBI”) where she completed a 4-year program which included the Foundational, Standard, Advanced and Leadership levels. She also completed a two-year Conflict Resolution Management course. Mercedes enjoys an active life in church and community service. She is a member of the Soul Saving Station for Every Nation in Harlem, NY, where she holds the office of Treasurer for the Women’s Auxiliary and is an ordained Deaconess.
She has been a member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women since 2015 and presently serves as the Treasurer for the Manhattan chapter and co-chair of the Budget and Finance Committee.
Mercedes became a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated through Delta Mu Zeta Chapter in the Spring of 2018. She has served on the Retreat and Fundraising committees and presently serves on the Blackout Gala committee as the Executive Board as the Historian.
